Atlus just announced today that the third title in the Utawarerumono trilogy, Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth, will be getting a Western release on September 5, this year. The game was originally released in Japan on September 21, 2016. Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth will be available in both physical and digital formats on the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita in North America, while only the PS4 version will have a physical format available in Europe.
Atlus is also taking pre-orders of an Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth Limited Edition version, which includes a collector’s box, a physical copy of the game, and a pillowcase that features the characters Uruuru and Saraana.
Utawarerumono, which translates literally as “The Person Being Sung,” is a visual-novel which includes tactical RPG elements, developed by Leaf and published by Aquaplus in Japan. The original Utawarerumono was released for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable in April 2002. The sequel, Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception, was released in Japan in September 2015, and will have its world-wide release next week, on May 23. Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth, is the third and final chapter, in a story surrounding a masked protagonist named Hakuoro who, after leading a rebellion and becoming emperor, must maintain peace within his country.
Characters from Utawarerumono also made an appearance in the 2D fighting game, AquaPazza: AquaPlus Dream Match on the PlayStation 3.
