Happy New Year! And to celebrate the festivities, Sony has just released their first batch of freebies for the new year. Here is the PlayStation Plus free games January 2025 line-up which will be available to download on Tuesday, January 7.
First, for the PS5, there’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, developed by Rocksteady Studios and released just ten months ago. Based on the Suicide Squad comics, and a spin-off of the Arkham series, this action-adventure title takes place five years following the events of Batman: Arkham Knight. Select from eight different characters, and play either solo or with up to three other friends, and head off to Metropolis to fight against the Justice League who have been brainwashed by Brainiac.
Next, for the PS4, there’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, a remake of the 2010 game with the same name. set in the fictional Seacrest Country, players compete in races, both offline and online, and select to be either a racer or the police.
Lastly, for both the PS4 and PS5, there’s The Stanley Parable: Ultra Delux, developed by Galactic Café. First released back in 2013, players control the protagonist Stanley through a narrated story, and making choices which result in various outcomes.
All three titles in the PlayStation Plus free games January 2024 line-up have platinum trophies to unlock.
Among them, the platinum for The Stanley Parable: Ultra Delux is by far the quickest and easiest. However, keep in mind that one trophy requires you to leave the game on for 24 hours on a Tuesday – perhaps one of the strangest trophy requirements yet.
Unlocking the platinum for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is of average difficulty, though requires a fair amount of grinding. Expect roughly around 45 hours to unlock.
Lastly, the platinum for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is arguable more difficult than its 2013 version, and requires a lot more time as well. Expect around 70 hours of gameplay for this platinum, depending on your racing skills.
