While some may have already heard the news by the leak on Reddit, or from the accidental reveal on the Chinese PlayStation Blog, Sony has recently released the PlayStation 4 Update 4.50.
Although many of the changes in the PlayStation 4 Update 4.50 are not immediately noticeable, some of the more notable modifications include being able to connect an external HD for outside storage of up to 8 TB, using a smartphone for voice chat when Remote Play is enabled, and using screenshots to customize the homescreen background.
Here is a list of some of the more notable features added in the 4.50 Update:
* Able to use a USB storage device for installing or moving applications from the PS4’s HD.
* Use Remote Play on a Windows PC, Mac, Xperia Smartphone, or Xperia Tablet for access to the voice chat in games and parties.
* Use screenshots to customize the home screen background.
* Online status is now visible when signed into the PlayStation App.
* Post screenshots directly to Activities via the Share button.
* Able to post animated GIFs to Activities and social applications.
* Notifications now appear in a single list
* Creating and joining other party features are easier in the quick menu.
* Blu-ray 3D is now supported by PlayStation VR.
