Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny
Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny, also known as Rune Factory Oceans in Europe and Japan, is a J-RPG, in which players control both a male and female character, Aden and Sonja, who ride a great beast across the seas. Players can farm, fish, craft items, form relationships, and sink ships and islands. The fighting is done in a real-time battle system.
Aden and his best friend Sonja have mysteriously been transported to an alternate version of their home, where they are somehow sharing the same body. While venturing through this strange parallel world, making friends and battling enemies, Aden and Sonja must find a way home and return Sonja to her rightful body.
Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny received generally favorable reviews in Japan, praised for its presentation and interesting setting and story. Outside Japan, however, it received mixed to lukewarm reviews, with an average score of 59%, criticized for its lack of story and monotonous gameplay.
As you can expect from a J-RPG, this game isn't particularly difficult, but extremely time consuming. Except for one simply trophy, the game allows a free-roam upon completion of the story, so that none of the other trophies are missable. Yet defeating 500 monsters, as well as catching 2000 fish can be a grind, and catching a cold 100 times can be tricky. But for the most part, every trophy is doable - just requires a lot of time.
Expect well over 100 hours for this Platinum.
The only potentially missable trophy to watch out for, is called Trophy 101, which relates to the character Maerwen. At some point after your relationship with her has reached level 2, she will ask if you know about trophies. Make sure to select "No," so that she may proceed to explain them, thereby unlocking the Trophy 101 trophy.
With that in mind, your first step is to get through the story. During which, you'll want to fight every monster you come across to work towards the That Which Monsters Flee trophy, which requires defeating 5000 monsters. You'll also want to catch fish, craft items, catch a cold whenever you can, as well as work on building your relationships during the story's progress. Basically, we recommend you take your time with the story. The more you do now, the less you'll need to mop-up afterwards.
Once you've finished the game and unlocked a good chunk of trophies, you're now able to freely roam and mop-up anything you've missed. Most likely, this will be where the majority of your time is spent.
