Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a third-person action-adventure with stealth elements, is the ninth installment in the Metal Gear Solid series, and takes place after the stand-alone prologue, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The game takes place in an open-world environment, sneaking around guards, moving across the terrain either on foot, horseback, or by vehicles, and possesses a base-building system that allows for developing weapons and items.

Nine years following the events of Ground Zeroes, Big Boss has awakened from his coma and is now leading the Diamond Dogs, a new mercenary group. Meanwhile, Venom Snake heads to war-torn Afghanistan to seek those responsible for the destruction of MSF, while uncovering a plan by the Patriots to develop a new Metal Gear system.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain received high praise with an average score of 95%, praised for its visuals, creativity in gameplay, storyline, and overall excitement.

The game is fairly average in terms of difficulty. However, the time required brings this difficulty rating up to a 3-star. Several missions will need to be replayed several times in order to acquire S ranks in each. Also, there's quite a lot to keep you busy, including completing all the Side Ops and finding every collectible. There are 3 online trophies, however they can be played in solo and merely require an internet connection. While arguably one of the easier games in the Metal Gear Solid series, The Phantom Pain will still monopolize much of your time in order to unlock that Platinum.

Expect well over 150 hours on this one.

NOTE: The Trophies on the PS4 have a separate list from those on the PS3.

There are no missable trophies, so we recommend simply playing through the game and enjoying the story.

Once you've enjoyed your run, it's time to get busy. The next step is to replay missions and obtain S ranks. Doing so will unlock the Executed trophy for completing all mission tasks, and the Elite trophy for getting S rank, as well as a few others along the way. This may sound easier said than done, so check out some of the guides under our Links tab if you're having trouble. Expect to replay some of these missions two to four times.

After all that, it's time to mop-up what's left. This includes completing all the Side Ops, as well as developing weapons and items for the Locked And Loaded trophy, and extracting all wild animal species for the Conservation trophy. Check out the Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what you're still missing and their requirements.

Good luck!

PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2017

It’s that time of the month again, when Sony unveils their next line-up for PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2017.

On the PlayStation 4, there’s Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, the next installment in Solid Snake’s adventures following Ground Zeroes and a prequel to the original Metal Gear titles. Also, there’s Amnesia: Collection, a 2-in-1 which includes the original 2010 survival horror The Dark Descent, and the 2013 title A Machine for Pigs.

For the PlayStation 3, there’s Monster Jam: Battlegrounds, where players race and crush their way to victory in behemoth monster trucks. And Hustle Kings, the billiards title which is also compatible with the Move controller and includes 3D functionality to truly feel like you’re at a pool hall.

Finally, on the PlayStation Vita, there’s Hue, the award winning puzzle adventure involving a journey through a grey land and discovering colored fragments. And Sky Force Anniversary, a revamp of the classic vertical-scrolling shoot em up arcade game. Hue is a cross-plat with the PS4, while Sky Force Anniversary is a cross-plat with both the PS4 and PS3.

Also, RIGS Mechanized Combat League for the PlayStation VR, which was offered as a free download for PlayStation Plus members last month, continues to remain available if you haven’t yet added it to your collection.

Among the PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2017, Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, Amnesia: Collection, and Monster Jam: Battlegrounds have Platinum trophies to unlock. Among them, Monster Jam: Battlegrounds is by far the easiest, requiring only 5 hours of gameplay. Amnesia: Collection is not too difficult if following a guide to find all those collectibles, and requires roughly 15 hours. Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain is of average difficulty, though will require well over 100 hours.

Also, while Hue can be tricky at times, less than 10 hours is required to unlock 100% of the trophies. Sky Force Anniversary needs some good shoot em up skills, though all trophies can be locked in 10-15 hours, depending on your abilities. Hustle Kings is perhaps the most challenging game to acquire 100% of the trophies, needing not only skills, but a lot of luck on your side.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy Guide

Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ****  The stealth series continues in this chronological sequel to Metal Gear Solid 2. The game was released in 2008, but added with trophy support in 2012. Requires a minimum of 8 playthroughs for the Platinum trophy.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, is the sixth MGS title directed by Hideo Kojima, and the chronological sequel to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of the Liberty, taking place five years after. Guns of the Patriots was released world-wide in June of 2008, but was updated with a trophy patch in August 2012.

Set in 2014, Snake is suffering from Werner's Syndrome, resulting in accelerated aging and allowing only a year left to live. For his "final mission," he accepts a job from Colonel Roy Campbell, now working for the UN, to infiltrate Liquid's army camp in the Middle East to assassinate him.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots received high praise by nearly all online gaming critics, with an average score of 96% for its innovative gameplay, fantastic graphics and presentation, and clever story.

If you thought the previous HD Metal Gear Solid games were long and challenging for the platinum, Guns of the Patriots takes the cake. You will need to do a minimum of 8 playthroughs, and that's provided you managed to achieve your trophy-hunting and emblem-hunting goals in each. If you make a mistake, expect to do a ninth or tenth playthrough.

This 4-star rating is based on both time consumption (nearly 100 hours of gameplay) as well as skills involved.

There's no way getting around having to do 8 playthroughs, as you need to fulfill certain requirements to collect all the emblems. However, if you play your cards right, you can avoid having to perform more than eight. The game also includes a number of missable trophies you'll need to collect along the way - just make sure you've obtained them all at some point during your eight playthroughs. Check out the Metal Gear Solid 4 trophy guide links under our Links tab for further details.

NOTE: The trophies are not retroactive, which means if you've played and completed the game BEFORE the August 2012 trophy patch, you will not automatically acquire any trophies.

On your first playthrough, select Liquid Snake difficulty, and focus on acquiring The Chicken emblem. This includes having to play the game a total of 35 hours minimum, which makes this run an excellent opportunity to acquire the majority of the missable trophies, such as the "Doll" trophies, Flashback Mania, Sunlight!, Ghost Photophraph Addict, Crop Circle, and many others. By the end of this run, you should have hopefully 22 of the emblems collected. Check out the walkthroughs in our Links page for further details. Also, after having acquired The Chicken emblem, you will have obtained the Corpse Camo, which is necessary in the next step.

For your second playthrough, aim for the Assassin and Tarantula emblems. By the end of this run, you should also be able to obtain the Divine Wind and the I Just Don't Fear Death trophies.

Next, play the game four more times to acquire the next four emblems: Spider, Centipede, Leopard, and Jaguar. Also, use this opportunity to collect any other missable trophies you may have missed earlier. This includes the Infinite Ammo, Stealth Camouflage, and the I Am THE Expert On Weapons trophies.

Now, for the toughest part of the game, you'll be playing your seventh playthrough to acquire the Big Boss emblem. This will also unlock another 9 emblems, such as Hound, FoxHound, Fox, Raven, Pigeon, Wolf, Octopus, Mantis, and Scorpion, for a current total of 38 emblems.

Finally, load up your eighth and final playthrough, to acquire the remaining 2 emblems: Panther and Little Gray. After this, you should acquire the Sounds Of The Battlefield trophy, along with the Platinum.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Trophy Guide

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ****  A third-person hack-and-slash and a spin-off of the Metal Gear Solid series. An extremely challenging Platinum that requires a playthrough on its hardest difficulty setting.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a third-person hack-and-slash action game released in 2013. It is the ninth title in the Metal Gear series, featuring the character Raiden who first appeared in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, in a story set four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Following the events four years after MSG4, the powerful organization running the war's economy, known as The Patriots, has been destroyed and broken into separate factions called Private Military Companies. Raiden is a cyborg working for the PMC Maverick Securities, who fight against a rival PMC known as Desperado Enterprises who are determined to destroy peace among nations in order to reap the financial rewards of the war economy.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance received positive reviews, with an average score of 83%, praised for its combat system and ability to expand the series.

If you've played any previous Metal Gear titles, then you'll understand these Platinums are not easy - and Revengeance is no exception. Using a cheat code, it's possible to jump to the hardest difficulty mode and get the platinum in one playthrough with some mopping-up afterwards. However, we at Trophy Hunter give kudos to anyone able to do this. Most players will probably start on Normal and work their way through as the game gets harder. In order to clear the hardest difficulty setting, you'll need to be a complete master of the mechanics and controls.

Overall, expect anywhere between 30 to 60 hours of gameplay, depending on your skills.

It is possible to unlock all modes of difficulty and head straight into Revengeance difficulty. At the Press Start screen, enter the Konami code: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, circle, X. However in doing so, you will lack not only the practice and skills gained from playing on the easier modes, but also the upgrades on your gear which ordinarily would make the Revengeance Difficulty mode easier. The choice is yours.

If you decide not to use the Konami Code, then we recommend starting your game on Normal and focusing your first playthrough on collecting as many trophies as you can. This includes all the collectibles and the mission-specific trophies. Check out the Metal Gear Rising Revengeance trophy guide links under our Links tab for further details, as well as a great collectibles video guide.

When you're ready to move up to Hard difficulty, select either Chapter or Continue, rather than New Game, in order to keep everything you've collected thus far. There are a number of trophies you can unlock on this second playthrough, including Amateur Radio Operator, and destroy-related trophies.

Before embarking the Revengeance difficulty, you should head into the VR Missions which will not only earn you two trophies - VR Master and Virtually Flawless - but also more gear and armor that will help you in our final playthrough.

Last is the most challenging stage of all: completing Revengeance mode, and earning an S-Rank across all missions. Check out the Revengeance S-Rank Guide in our Links page if you're experiencing too much trouble.

Good luck!
