PlayStation Plus Free Games December 2022

The winter holidays are fast approaching, and you know what that means, right? More time for gaming! And Santa Sony has us covered with their next line-up of PlayStation Plus Free Games December 2022 available for download on Tuesday, December 6.

First, for the PS4, there is Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which is actually a complication of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3. This trilogy of sci-fi action-RPG developed by BioWare focuses on Commander Shepard who’s military team are faced with an advanced race of synthetic-organic enemies known as the Reapers. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition also includes all the DLC originally released for their respective games in the trilogy.

Next, available for both the PS4 and PS5 is Biomutant, an open-world RPG where players take control of a mammalian warrior and explore a world of mutated animals in an adventure with branching storylines depending on decisions made by the player.

Last, also for both the PS4 and PS5 is the brand new Divine Knockout, a third-person platformer brawler in which players battle gods by knocking them off the map.

Not only do all three of the PlayStation Plus Free Games December 2022 titles have Platinum trophies to unlock, but since Mass Effect Legendary Edition is three titles in one, that means there are a total of 5 Platinum trophies.

Among these, Biomutant is perhaps the easiest and quickest Platinum. The game is not particularly difficult with only a few minor challenges, and can be completed in around 25-30 hours depending on whether or not you follow a guide.

Each of the three Mass Effect titles require a little more skill in acquiring the Platinum, though are of average difficulty and require around 30 or more hours of gameplay.

Since Divine Knockout is a new game, we unfortunately do not have any information on the difficulty or time required in obtaining the Platinum. However, we will update this article once we have more information.

Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3 is a third-person action RPG in a sci-fi setting, and a direct sequel to the 2010 Mass Effect 2. As in the previous titles, choices made in the game can impact the outcome of the story. Game saves from Mass Effect 1 and 2 can be imported, allowing to use the same player-character. The party members in Mass Effect 3 is smaller than those in the prequel, and the combat has been refined. The game also includes a multiplayer co-op mode.

Earth has been overrun by a synthetic-organic race of machines known as the Reapers. Player-character Commander Shepard must find a means to defeat the Reapers once and for all.

Mass Effect 3 received positive reviews, with an average score of 89%, praised for its dramatic story and overall exciting fun. The ending, however, received so much criticism that BioWare released a free DLC patch which elaborated on the consequences of the ending as well as tied up loose ends.

While holding the same 3-star difficulty rating as its prequel, Mass Effect 3's Insanity mode is considered slightly easier, while the game in general is slightly more time consuming. Importing your save from a previously played Mass Effect 2 will greatly decrease the time required for the Platinum, as your character will already be starting at a higher level. The majority of the trophies can be done offline, however the Defender trophy is the only one which must be done in the online theater of war.

Overall, expect around 60-70 hours of gameplay for the platinum, with an additional 20 hours if you're not importing a previous Mass Effect 2 save.

Due to the Long Service Medal trophy, you will either need to perform two full playthroughs, or one playthrough and import a save from a previously played Mass Effect 2. if you have already played Mass Effect 2 and still have your save on your PlayStation, then it's highly recommended to import it. Not only will you begin with a character at a higher level, but you can then knock out the platinum in one playthrough, provided that you're playing on Insanity mode.

If you're playing this without an import, then you will need to do two playthroughs. In which case, your first playthrough may as well be on either Casual or Normal setting. If you've imported your character, you can go straight to Insanity.

The missable trophies you'll want to watch out for, are Liberator, Tunnel Rat, Saboteur, Problem Solver, Fact Finder, and Unwavering. Also, keep note that the point of no return is the Priority: Tuchanka, Priority: Rannoch, and Priority: Cereberus Headquarters missions, so make sure you've completed and unlocked the necessary trophies first.

Also, while it's not necessary for the Platinum, if you're planning on completing the DLC and striving for 100%, the Freedom Fighter trophy in the DLC Trophy Pack 1, must be done before crossing the point of no return.

If you've completed the game and are still shy of a few trophies, you can import your character, which will allow you to keep all your experience points and weapons. This is also your chance to play Insanity if you haven't done so already, rack up any needed kills, and work on the online Defender trophy.

Mass Effect 2 Trophy Guide

Mass Effect 2 Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ***  A third-person sci-fi action RPG and sequel to the 2007 title Mass Effect. The Platinum is both time consuming and challenging, as it requires a playthrough on Insanity mode.

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 is a sci-fi third-person RPG, and a sequel to the 2007 Mass Effect, which was not released on the PlayStation 3. Players select from six character classes, upgrading their skills and powers along the way, while selecting from a variety of weapons and armor, as well as make decisions which impact the story's outcome.

Taking place in the 22nd century, and beginning only a few weeks after the prequel, humanity is threatened by an insect-like species known as the Collectors. Commander Shephard must put together a diverse team in order to defeat the enemy in a suicide mission.

Mass Effect 2 was both a commercial and critical success, with an average rating of 95%, praised for its interesting characters and storyline, great visuals and music, and for its overall exciting experience.

The 3-star rating is for both time-consumption and challenge. You will need to finish the game on Insanity mode, which can be quite difficult and frustrating. On Casual mode, a full playthrough, with all the side-missions completed, could take between 35-45 hours. On Insanity, you can expect those hours to be higher. Yet the good news is, you can begin your game immediately on Insanity, if you wish.

Overall, expect anywhere between 40-80 hours to complete, depending on how many playthroughs you do.

Mass Effect 2, among other things, is all about making choices. And the first choice you will have to make, is which mode to begin your playthrough on. At some point, you will need to complete the game on Insanity, which is an option from the start. Doing this means collecting the platinum in one playthrough - so long as you unlocked all the missable trophies. However, Insanity is very challenging, and can be especially frustrating for someone not familiar with the Mass Effect series. So, the choice is yours. Either begin on Casual mode first, then do a second playthrough, or start right with Insanity.

As you play through the game, keep in mind that the point of no return is when you enter the Omega 4 Relay. Before doing this, make sure you've unlocked all the other trophies. This includes all the loyalty-related ones, and several others. A good rule of thumb is to save often in multiple slots, so you can always backtrack if you missed something. Be sure to check out the Mass Effect 2 trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what you still need and their requirements.

If you're a completionist who plans to finish the DLC, it should be noted that The Price of Revenge must be done before you travel through the Omega 4 Relay. However, the three trophies for the Arrival DLC can be unlocked anytime after.
