PlayStation Game Server Closures

Last month, players said farewell to the online portion of the 2010 PS3 title ModNation Racers, which went offline on October 10. The Platinum has officially become Not Obtainable for players who still required any of its 17 online trophies. In addition, the three DLC add-ons, Far East Tour, Arctic Tour, and Big City Tour, which have a total of 21 trophies, have been pulled from the PlayStation Store.

While unfortunate, it’s also natural for game servers to close as they get on in years, and less people are playing them online. Here is an updated list of planned PlayStation game server closures that players and trophy hunters may wish to be aware of:

The 2012 vehicle combat game Twisted Metal is currently on borrowed time. The online servers were originally scheduled to close on January 31 next year, only to be “rescheduled” for October 15, 2018. At the moment, the servers for Twisted Metal are still up, though it’s unclear whether they will be closed on any scheduled day, or the original January 31. Twisted Metal includes 12 online trophies, which means unless they are unlocked before the server closure, the Platinum will become Not Obtainable.

The 2014 PS4 action title InFamous Second Son will have its online servers close on December 16, 2018. However, this only included the web-based puzzle portions of InFamous Paper Trail. Since there are no trophies connected with this – or any online trophies, for that matter – the Platinum will remain available after the closure.

Warhawk, the 2007 PS3 multiplayer third-person shooter, will have its online servers closed on January 31 next year. Warhawk is an online-only game, which means all of its trophies, including the DLC, will become Not Obtainable after the date.

The 2012 crossover fighting game, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, will also have its online servers close on January 31 on both the PS3 and PS Vita version. This title was a PlayStation Plus free game in September 2014. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale includes 7 online trophies which, along with the Platinum, will become Not Obtainable after the server closure.

Also closing on January 31 are the online servers for Sound Shapes, across the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita platforms. However, none of the trophies require online gameplay, which means the Platinum will still be obtainable. Also, the DLC packs which make up a total of 55 trophies to be unlocked, will still remain available for purchase on the PlayStation Store.

The PS4 third-person shooter Drawn to Death will see their online servers close on March 25, 2019. Drawn to Death was a PlayStation Plus free game upon its release in April 2017. Since this is an online-only title, all trophies and its Platinum will become Not Obtainable after the closure date.

For trophy hunters out there who are hoping to unlock these online trophies before their server closures, may find it easier to locate boosting partners as we near crunch time. Be sure to check out the Links tab for each respective game, where we add Boosting Forum links.

inFamous: First Light

inFamous: First Light is a third-person action adventure, and a standalone DLC to the 2014 inFamous Second Son. Set in an open world in a fictionalized version of Seattle, players control Abigail "Fetch" Walker - a character introduced in Second Son - who possesses Neon powers, as she completes levels and side missions while defeating enemies in similar fashion to other inFamous titles.

Abigail "Fetch" Walker is a young conduit with Neon powers, currently in Curdun Cay prison under the custody of the department of Unified Protection. The story flashes several years earlier, where Abigail begins to explain the events which led up to her arrest.

inFamous: First Light received generally positive reviews with an average score of 73%, praised for its expansion on the inFamous world and amount of content for a standalone DLC, though criticized by some for its repetitive gameplay and uninspiring missions.

Since inFamous: First Light is a standalone DLC, the game is rather short, and can be played on Easy mode. While a few of the challenges may be tricky at times or even require some grinding, the Platinum is overall completely doable for any average player, and quick to unlock.

Expect roughly 10 hours for the Platinum, depending on skills.

First, simply play through and enjoy the story, as there are no missable trophies to worry about. There are no difficulty-related trophies, so if you wish to make things easier and quicker for yourself, feel free to play on Easy mode. There are a few challenge-related trophies you can unlock now if you want, or get busy collecting the Neon Lumens, but for the most part, just focus on getting through the story and unlocking the four story-related trophies.

With that done, it's time to collect the remaining Neon Lumens to upgrade your player-character, to which there are 72 around the city. This will earn you the Illuminated trophy. You'll also want to destroy all the police drones for the Blackout trophy, complete all the Lumen races for the Lickety Pronto trophy, and complete all the neon graffiti for the That's So Fetch trophy, to fully upgrade your player-character.

Now that Abigail is all strong and powerful, it's time to head to the Challenge Arenas, where you'll need to play through all five and reach 500,000 points in each for their respective trophies. This is arguably the trickiest part of the game, though still quite doable for any average player.

Finally, it's just a matter of mopping-up any remaining trophies. Be sure to check out the inFamous First Light trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what you're missing and their requirements.

inFamous Second Son Trophy Guide

inFamous Second Son Trophy Guide. Difficulty: **  A third-person action-adventure taking place in an open-world, and the third installment in the inFamous series. The Platinum trophy is significantly easier and quicker than previous installments.

inFamous Second Son

inFamous Second Son is a third-person action-adventure taking place in an open world, and the third installment in the inFamous series. Players control Delsin Rowe, a character possessing super powers, whose fate through the story is determined by the good or evil choices made by the player.

Taking place seven years following the events of inFamous 2, Delsin Rowe is a young graffiti artist who possesses the ability of Power Absorption. He is on the run from the D.U.P., a government agency bent on capturing the remaining Conduits.

inFamous Second Son received positive reviews with an average score of 82%, praised for its impressive visuals and lighting effects, smooth controls, and overall fun.

This is a low 2-star rating, as the game itself is significantly shorter than those in previous installments, as well as easier. Two full playthroughs are required, one of which on Expert difficulty mode - which isn't that hard. Plenty of collectibles and side missions to perform, which are conveniently marked on a map and can be done in free roam.

Overall, expect roughly 15-20 hours for the Platinum trophy.

Since you'll need to do two playthroughs, you may as well start your first one on Easy mode. At first, you can simply play through the story, not worrying about the side-missions or collectibles. However, make sure you select either the good or evil Karma path, and stick with it throughout the game.

After you've completed the story, you'll enter the free roam. Here is where you can find all the collectibles marked on your map, as well as complete any side missions or events you missed during the initial playthrough. Attempt to unlock all the miscellaneous trophies in this step. Be sure to check out the inFamous Second Son trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what you're missing and their requirements.

Finally, it's time to start the second playthrough. Make sure the setting is on Expert difficulty in order to unlock the Unstoppable trophy. Also, be sure to follow the opposite karma path that you took during your first playthrough.

If you've been following this roadmap, then you should have the Platinum after completing the Expert difficulty playthrough.

PlayStation Plus Free Games September 2017

Despite the PlayStation 4 titles already being leaked, Sony has officially released their full lineup for PlayStation Plus Free Games September 2017 available for download on Tuesday, September 5.

For the PlayStation 4, there’s inFamous: Second Son, the third major installment in the inFamous series as the story continues through the electric-weilding protagonist Delsin Rowe in this action-adventure title. And Strike Vector Ex where players take control of super powered aircraft and engage in first-person aerial combat.

On the PlayStation 3, there’s Truck Racer, a racing game involving indestructable trucks that can be customized and raced down the track in both single player and online multiplayer. And Handball 16, a Handball simulation sports game with the three most prestigious leagues in Europe.

Finally, for the PlayStation Vita, there’s We Are Doomed, a twin-stick shooter where players use a super laserbeam to destroy polygons. And Hatoful Boyfriend, a Japanese visual novel about a teenage human girl who attends St. PigeoNation’s Insttute, a school for talented birds. Both We Are Doomed and Hatoful Boyfriend are cross-plat with the PS4.

Among the PlayStation Plus free games September 2017, inFamous: Second Son, Strke Vector Ex, Truck Racer, and Handball 16 all have Platinum trophies to unlock. Both Infamous: Second Son and Strke Vector Ex are perhaps the easiest, both requiring only 15 hours of gameplay. Truck Racer has some time trials that can be rather tricky, but its Platinum is overall doable and requires roughly 10 hours, depending on skills. Also, since Hatoful Boyfriend is a visual novel, it’s quite easy to unlock 100% of the trophies if following a guide.
