Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice
Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice is a tactical J-RPG, the third in the Disgaea series which began on the PS2, and is the first title to be released for the PlayStation 3. Players control a group of characters of various classes, moving across a map which features "geo blocks" that have statistical effects in combat.
The story takes place at the Evil Academy, a demon school in the Netherworld where good students are those who participate in evil activities. Mao is cutting school in order to pursue his dream of overthrowing his father, the netherworld's Overlord, and claiming the title for himself. Meanwhile, his fellow pupils at the Academy attempt to stop his plans one way or another.
Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice received relatively positive reviews with an average score of 74%, criticized for its 'old style' on a seventh generation console and possessing a difficult learning curve, but praised for its story depth and interesting characters.
This can be a high or low 3-star rating, depending on your luck. Like most J-RPGs, there's nothing particularly difficult about this platinum, but requires a lot of time. Getting your characters to level 9999 will, as you can imagine, require a lot of grinding. Also, there are a number of Pirates you need to defeat, which appear randomly - which means crossing your fingers as you continuously reload your save.
Overall, this Platinum will require anywhere between 100 to 200 hours of gameplay.
Basically, you'll want to simply play through the main story. It's recommended to aim for the ABC's Of Hitting trophy sometime before Chapter 4, and the Cinco De Panelo trophy in Chapter 3, just to make mopping-up a little easier later on. Otherwise, simply play to the end.
Ironically, your hunt for the Platinum has now only just begun. Next, you'll need to max out your characters to level 9999, particularly Mao. This is where all the hours of grinding will come in, so just have patience and keep at it. We've included a mini guide in the Links page that will give you some leveling-up tips.
Next, you'll need to collect 34 tickets. Some of these can be bought at random vendors, but most of which you'll need to acquire by defeating pirates in the item world. Along the way, you should hopefully get some of the defeat pirates related trophies. After collecting 34 illegal tickets, complete the 35 X-dimension levels and collect the Chicken Hat.
Next, you'll need to head to the Land of Carnage item world and collect items as you reach the top ten floors, and collect monsters. On the floors 91-100, you'll be hunting for pirates to get all their corresponding trophies. This is where more grinding and a lot of luck comes in, as the types of pirates which appear are random. Make sure you create a save on floor 90, so that you can quit and reload each time you run through and obtain the pirate trophies. As it's based on luck, this can take anywhere between 15 to 80 hours of gameplay.
Last, there's mopping-up to do. Check out the Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice trophy guide links under our Links tab for tips on anything you're missing. For the 10 Billion Damage Man trophy, it's a lot easier to obtain if you purchase and download the Hero Prinny DLC, which is currently listed at $1.99 and will save you hours of trouble. If not, then you'll need to complete the epilogue to get Flonne for this trophy.
