Despite the official announcement of Destiny 2, Bungie announced they will continue supporting Destiny 1 “for the foreseeable future,” as stated by David Dague, Community Manager.
“Destiny 1 is still a game that will be there for players. We’ve planned to support it for the foreseeable future, so while we do have a sense of finality and closure of [the Age of Triumph] event, we are by no means turning the light off on Destiny 1,” said Dague.
“If [players] decide they want to revisit the things they did in Destiny 1, the game will still be there for them. And, for someone who might join the adventure in progress, and they might want to go back to the beginning and discover how it all started? Those origin stories will be waiting for them.”
While this may not mean we can expect anymore DLC to be released, trophy hunters can find comfort that Destiny 1 will still be available for unlocking its platinum when the sequel is released. Also, despite this announcement being made on April Fool’s Day, we at Trophy Hunter feel confident in its sincerity.
Destiny 2 is set to be released world wide on September 8, 2017 for the PlayStation 4, as well as the Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. The game will take place one year following the events of the Destiny: Rise of Iron DLC.
