Devil May Cry 2 HD

Devil May Cry 2 is an action hack-and-slash, first released on the PlayStation 2 in 2003, and was revamped in HD with trophy support as part of the Devil May Cry Collection in 2012, which also included the prequel and sequel. The players fight numerous enemies in stylish combat using a variety of combos, with each mission granting a letter grade based on the player's performance.

Set in modern times, in the fictional city of Vie de Marlie, the demon hunter Dante has teamed up with Lucia in order to stop an international businessman named Arius from achieving world domination by bringing the demon Argosax into the world.

The original 2003 Devil May Cry 2 received very mixed reviews, with an average score of 65%, though was a commercial success. Some reviewers complained while others praised the more simplistic combat system, as well as boss battles which required less strategy. General criticism was towards Dante's character personality, which seemed changed from the prequel.

If you've managed the platinum on the prequel, then Devil May Cry 2 will feel like a breeze. Since each difficult mode needs to be individually unlocked, you'll need several playthroughs - though the game itself is not particularly long. A chapter select allows you to acquire the necessary S-ranks, and mop-up anything you missed.

Overall, expect around 20-30 hours, depending on your skills.

Before we begin, it should be noted that there are several cheats available, and they will NOT disable the trophies. These range from unlocking Trish, to a Mission Select, to unlocking the more difficult modes, which can then knock off a few, otherwise necessary, playthroughs. If this is something that interests you, then check out our Link tab for the cheats.

Otherwise, begin by playing and completing Normal mode with both Dante and Lucia's scenario, which will unlock Hard mode. Along the way, work on upgrading all weapons to Level 3 for the Like A Hot Knife Through Butter and To The Max trophies. Then, continue on with Dante's gun for the Arms Race trophy, and Lucia's sword for the Armed And Dangerous trophy. However, as you'll be performing several playthroughs, you don't need to do all this in one shot. You'll also want to work on completing the Secret Missions, and collecting all the Blue Orbs and Blue Orb fragments.

Once that's finished, you can start going through Hard mode. Again, you can use this opportunity to collect and complete anything you're still missing from your previous playthrough. With Hard mode complete, you will have unlocked Must Die mode - as well as the player character Trish. If you feel up to the task, you can playthrough Must Die mode using Trish now, in order to nab the Barehand Beauty trophy and save yourself an extra playthrough.

From this point on, it's simply a matter of any necessary grinding, and mopping-up any other trophies you're still missing. Check out the Devil May Cry 2 trophy guide links under our Links tab for specific details on anything you still need.

Devil May Cry Trophy Guide

Devil May Cry Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ***  An action hack-and-slash originally released on the PlayStation 2 in 2001. The Platinum is skill-based, with three full playthroughs required, one on its hardest difficulty mode.

Devil May Cry HD

Devil May Cry is an action hack-and-slash, first released on the PlayStation 2 in 2001, and was revamped in HD with trophy support as part of the Devil May Cry Collection in 2012, which also includes two sequels. The player fights numerous enemies in stylish combat using a variety of combos, with each mission granting a letter grade based on the player's performance.

Set in modern times, Dante is a demon hunter who, after losing his family to demons, has made revenge his business. After being visited by a mysterious woman named Trish in his office, Dante learns that the demon emperor Mundus, who was responsible for his mother and brother's death, is preparing to return. Dante must fight his way through a horde of enemies to face his nemesis and avenge his family.

The original 2001 Devil May Cry not only received high reception, with an average score of 94%, but became a phenomena inspiring sequels, as well as a manga and animated series. The look of Dante was the inspiration behind Leon S. Kennedy, a character in the Resident Evil series also by Capcom.

The difficulty of his game is purely based on skills, and the high 3-star rating is for anyone new to the DMC series. If you've played the original title on the PS2 and are quite familiar with all the controls and combos, then this difficulty rating could be brought down to a 2-star.

You'll need at least 3 full playthroughs, one of which is completing its hardest mode, plus all the secret missions. Other trophies involve maxing out your powers, a few collectibles in the form of guns, and getting some S-ranks.

Anyone who's played Devil May Cry on the original PS2 and already possess some skills may acquire the Platinum in over 20 hours. For beginners, this may take much longer.

For your first playthrough, we recommend starting on Normal mode, rather than Easy, to get a better feel for the game and prepare you for the coming, harder modes - not to mention there's no trophy for completing Easy. So, if you die three times in the first few missions and the game asks if you wish to downgrade to Easy, make sure you refuse the offer. Otherwise, you'll miss out on the Warming Up! trophy.

There are a number of missable trophies along the way, which might be easiest to collect now on Normal. Check out the Devil May Cry trophy guide links under our Links tab for specific details. Also, try to avoid using your items, such as Untouchables, Devil Stars and Holy Water, as you'll need them in the more difficult modes.

Next, rinse and repeat on Hard mode. You should start unlocking the accumulative trophies at this point, and maxing out your character - specificially Dante's health, to better prepare you for the next mode.

Finally, comes Dante Must Die. This is what truly gives this game a 3-star rating in difficulty, as getting through is far from being a cakewalk. If you're truly having difficulty, you may wish to consider replaying Normal mode again, in order to stock up on items, particularly Untouchables, which can make this mode easier.

Dead Rising 2 Off The Record Trophy Guide

Dead Rising 2 Off The Record Trophy Guide. Difficulty: **  A third-person survival horror taking place in an open-world amusement park. The game is overall easier than others in the series and requires less grinding for the Platinum.

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record ** 51 Capcom Vancouver Canada 44 3 3 5 0

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is a third-person survival horror taking place in an open world environment. It is a remastered version of Dead Rising 2, with Frank West replacing Chuck Greene as the playable character, and includes a new amusement park area, called Uranus Zone.

The game is a re-imagined scenario, in which Frank West from the original Dead Rising title covers the Fortune City outbreak, rather than Chuck Greene in Dead Rising 2. In the story, frank has become a celebrity after the events of the first Dead Rising. But once his fame expires, he decides to appear on the Terror is Reality show. During which, he spots TK and Brandon Whittaker discussing something secretive, and exchanging a mysterious package. Soon afterwards, the zombies break loose and the infection of Fortune City begins. Frank must stay alive, help people in distress, while doing his own investigating.

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record received generally positive reviews, with an average score of 75%, praised for its core game and fun photography addition, but criticized for a lack of improvements from the original Dead Rising 2 title.

If you've played the original Dead Rising 2, then Off The Record shouldn't bee too hard. Overall, the trophies are easier and require less grinding. Many of the challenges are similar, such as rescuing people, various kill-related trophies, as well as taking photos reminiscent of the original Dead Rising title.

There are, however, 5 online trophies to worry about, several of which require you to be the host in order to unlock.

Overall, depending on how many playthroughs you require to collect all the trophies, and your luck with having a good online partner, expect to take between 30-45 hours on this one.

NOTE: The trophies on the PS4 have a separate list from those on the PS3.

The main story takes place over a 72 hour period, with an additional 24 hours. In real time, this equals to about 8 hours for a full playthrough. After which, you can replay the story in a New Game+. For this reason, it's a good idea to have a game plan, and decide which trophies you'll go after during each playthrough, since there are time restrictions. The more you try to do, the more complicated it can get.

We recommend, at least for your first playthrough, to go after the main case files. Also, if you're confident enough, you can go after the 75 different PP stickers throughout Fortune City. Just make sure to check the time, and not be late in reaching the spot for the next main case before it begins.

Once that's over, you can then continue playing New Game+ playthroughs to collect the other trophies you need. This will include grinding to unlock all the skill moves as your character levels up, the Alpha Vs. Omega trophy, and several other miscellaneous challenges. Check out the Dead Rising 2 Off The Record trophy guide links under our Links tab for specific details on what you're going for.

The last thing to do is collect the trophies in the Sandbox Mode, which is a free roam without any time restrictions. This is where you'll want to get the 30 gold singleplayer challenges, killing 100,000 zombies, and the multiplayer trophies, in whichever order you choose. Remember, you can only unlock the multiplayer trophies if you are the host.

The 2017 Tokyo Game Show

Makuhari Messe first opened their doors to the press on Thursday, and are now wide open to the public where eager gamers are piling in to check out this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The crowds get bigger each year, but so too does the Tokyo Game Show ever since recovering from the global recession several years ago. All three main halls are now wall-to-wall with gaming companies and businesses, while an additional two more were open for indie games, VR, and an attempt to promote e-sports here in Japan.

2017 Tokyo Game Show

While there weren’t any main events or “must see” games or hardware this year, there were some titles we were thrilled to check out. The PlayStation booth had playable demos for Santa Monica Studio‘s God Of War, set to be released early next year, as well as Polyphony Digital‘s Gran Turismo Sport racing its way to stores next month, and the next Call of Duty: WWII set for release in November.

Other cool titles to try – and were heavily promoted – included Detroit: Become Human, the latest game from the developers of Heavy Rain set in a neo-noir future involving androids, planned for release sometime next year. And of course, Monster Hunter: World – the first Monster Hunter title to have Trophies! – coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January. It’s apparent Monster Hunter: World is one of the more anticipated games here in Japan, with massive promotional booths at both the PlayStation area, as well as the Capcom spot which featured a massive dragon-like creature.

2017 Tokyo Game ShowOther titles being promoted by the bigger companies included Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer DLC coming next month from Square Enix, the remake of Ryu ga Gotoku 2 (Yakuza 2) titled Ryu ga Gotoku: Kiwami 2 by SEGA, as well as their Ryu ga Gotoku Online set for launch next year – which we suspect may not see an overseas release.

But in our opinion, the more exciting stuff was happening at the indie game and VR hall, were we saw – and tried – an assortment of experimental games, as well as new VR software and peripherals.

H2L, a Japanese company, had a new VR device called the First VR, which includes a simple wristband that not only tracks your arm movements, but when your hand is is opened or closed, allowing you to “pick up and drop” items in the virtual world.

Another Japanese developer, named Prodigy, worked with Joysound to create a boxing/karaoke game called Nagu Kara, meaning Punching Karaoke. Select your favorite song (we did Bon Jovi – It’s My Life) and sing into the mic to boost your strength, while using the motion controls to box your way to the top.

And Unbereal created a VR tank battle game called ArtiFight, where players moved their tanks forward and back by peddling on an exorcise bike, while turning and firing using hand controllers.

2017 Tokyo Game ShowChinese developer NetDragon had several “4D” VR games for demonstration, our favorite being D-Day, an on-rails shooter where you fire at multiple alien creatures using a gatling gun. Not only do you feel immersed in the action through the VR headset, but the whole seat and physical representation of the gatling gun moves and shakes depending on what’s happening in the game.

And the biggest event – requiring a 3 hour wait to try – was the Gyro VR from South Korea’s Sangwha. Enter a massive gyro like you might see at NASA, strap on the VR headset, and experience robot battles and extreme sports while being spun 360 degrees in sync to what’s happening in the virtual world.

Perhaps this was the first time the indie and VR games stole the show away from the bigger developers, marking the 2017 Tokyo Game Show an overall fun and intriguing experience!
