Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a first-person shooter with RPG elements, set in an open world. The game is the third installment in the Borderlands series, taking place between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2. The game was first released on seventh-generation consoles in 2014, then ported onto the PS4 and Xbox One as part of The Handsome Collection one year later.

Handsome Jack is an employee at Hyperion Corporation. Following the siege of the company’s Helios space station by a military unit named the Last Legion, Jack decides to get a group of Vault Hunters together to take back the station, while also seeking out the hidden vault on Pandora’s moon.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel received positive reviews with an average score of 75%, praised for its interesting characters, humor, and gameplay mechanics, but criticized for its weak story and lacking much change from the previous installments.

If you’re already familiar with the Borderlands series, then you should be familiar with what is required for the Pre-Sequel Platinum. For those new to the series, the game is of average difficulty, but needs a lot of time. One full playthrough, plus a few partial playthroughs are required. On the PS4, all online trophies can be done locally if you have up to four controllers. The PS3 version will require at least one online player, provided you each have two controllers.

Expect anywhere between 50-70 hours for the Platinum, depending on how much co-op assistance you have. NOTE: The trophies on the PS4 have a separate list from those on the PS3.

Start by selecting whichever character you feel comfortable with, and play through the story from beginning to end. Work on completing all the side missions as well.

However, take note of two missable trophies. The Who You Gonna Call? trophy requires you to complete the Sub-Level 13 missions with three other player. This mission is in two parts, but it is the second part which must be completed with three other co-op partners. Also, the Guardian Guardian trophy requires you to save the Guardians from the Scav Poachers. After you complete the Guardian Hunter trophy and have the option to either kill or side with the Master Poacher. Make sure to “kill” him, in order to unlock the trophy.

Even if you’ve finished the story, continue to work on everything else that’s required in the free-roam phase. This includes any side-missions still missing, and discovering all locations for the Cosmic Completionist trophy. Be sure to check out the Borderlands The Pre-Sequel trophy guide links under our Links tab for more details.

After all that, you should have nearly all the trophies unlocked, with the exception of a few. Next, it’s time to start your True Vault Hunter mode playthrough. If you’ve already done everything else, then this should just be a speedrun through the story. True Vault Hunter mode can be challenging, so its recommended you find some co-op friends to help, to make things easier. Completing this will help you reach level 50, and thereby unlock the Space Lord trophy.

Finally, it’s time for some partial playthroughs in order to unlock the character-specific trophies. These involve using each the character’s Action Skill, which you’ll probably need to reach around level 25. After your first playthrough, you should already have one of these four trophies unlocked. So start a new playthrough with a different character and work on that particular trophy until its unlocked, then start another playthrough with another character. Rinse and repeat.

After your fourth partial playthrough with the last character, you should unlock your last trophy, along with the Platinum trophy.

PlayStation Plus Free Games June 2019

With Summer fast approaching, we can either head outside and enjoy the warm weather, or stay indoors and play some games. For those who prefer the latter, Sony has unveiled their next line-up for PlayStation Plus Free Games June 2019 which will be available for download on Tuesday, June 4.

First, there’s Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, a 2-in-1 title that includes both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, as well as all the DLC for both games. These are first-person shooters with RPG elements that take place on another planet in a Mad Max like setting. Players face off against dangerous ruffians, intergalactic gangsters, and fierce alien creatures that inhabit the planet.

Next, there’s Sonic Mania, the next installment in the Sonic the Hedghog series first released in 2017. The game is a 2D side-scroller reminiscent of the original Sonic titles on the Sega Genesis, featuring all your favorite characters, and animated cutscenes.

Both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel contained in the Borderlands: The Handsom Collection have a Platinum trophy waiting to be unlocked. Sonic Mania has a total of 18 trophies but no Platinum.

The Platinum for both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel are fairly average in terms of difficulty, though will take a fair amount of time as there’s a lot to do. Expect around 50-60 hours for each Platinum.

Meanwhile, Sonic Mania is not a particularly difficult game to unlock 100% of the trophies, especially for those with some Sonic experience.

Borderlands 2 Trophy Guide PS4

Borderlands 2 Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ***  A first-person action RPG in a sci-fi setting, and a sequel to the 2009 title Borderlands. The Platinum is just as challenging and time consuming as the previous installment.

Borderlands 2 *** 51 Gearbox Software U.S. 39 9 2 1 9

Borderlands 2

A sequel to its popular 2009 predecessor, Borderlands 2 is a first-person action with RPG elements in an open-world. Players select one of four new characters to play, each with their own distinct abilities, performing numerous side-quests while working through a main storyline. The game features both online and split-screen co-op play.

Taking place on the same Pandora world as the prequel, four new Vault Hunters arrive by train and soon join a resistance group called the Crimson Raiders, fighting against Handsome Jack and his henchmen. Along the way, the Guardian Angel offers them advice as they seek out a second vault containing a dark secret.

Borderlands 2 was well-received, with an average rating of 91%, praised for its RPG elements, humor, and overall fun factor.

If you've played the previous Borderlands title, then you have a pretty good idea of what to expect in terms of requirements for this platinum. Generally, this difficulty rating is more for time-consumption than skill required. You'll need one full playthrough, completing all major missions and side-quests, then to play again on New Game + for awhile to level-up your character.

There is one online trophy, which involves having someone on your friends list save you. If none of your buddies have this game, then you'll either need to start adding people to your list, or look for a boosting partner online.

NOTE: The trophies on the PS4 have a separate list from those on the PS3.

For the most part, being open-world and able to replay previously completed quests, this game doesn't require much of a roadmap. You'll want to go through the game, completing all the quests and finding all the locations, all the while boosting your level and completing some of the few challenge trophies along the way. Check out the Borderlands 2 trophy guide links under our Links tab for specific details on those challenges.

One thing to consider when selecting your character: if you want to save some time later, you may want to play as the Assassin, since there are 4 character-specific trophies, one of which requires the Assassin to be at level 31.

Once you've completed the game and have collected the majority of the trophies, you can start a New Game+ and play on True Vault Hunter mode, which increases the difficulty of the enemies, but allowing for more XP on kills and completing quests. Your main goal here is to reach level 50 for the Capped Out...For Now trophy, and then have the ability to kill Terramorphous the Invincible for the Thresher Thrashed trophy.

All that should be left is a bit of mopping-up, if required. This may include the four character-specific trophies: Unseen Predator requires the Assassing to be at level 31, Sabre Rattler requires the Commando to be at level 5, Phased and Confused requires the Siren at level 5, and So Much Blood requires the Gunzerker to be at level 21.
