PlayStation Plus Free Games March 2018

Perhaps it was a means to ease the blow of Sony‘s earlier announcement regarding dropping PS3 and Vita games from their list of freebies, or a way to boost those memberships at the end of the fiscal year (which traditionally ends in March, here in Japan). Whatever the reason, Sony has some great titles for their PlayStation Plus free games March 2018.

For the PlayStation 4, there’s Bloodborne, the action RPG set in a Gothic, Victorian era by the same makers as the Dark Souls series. And Ratchet & Clank, the platforming action sci-fi adventure and remake from the original PS2 title.

On the PlayStation 3, we’ve got Legend of Kay Anniversary, a remaster of the original PS2 title featuring martial art combat, platforming, and puzzle solving as we follow the exploits of a hotheaded young cat named Kay. And Mighty No. 9, a 2D side-scrolling action shooter set in the same classic style as the Mega Man series. Mighty No. 9 is also a cross-plat with the PS4.

Finally, the PlayStation Vita will be getting Claire: Extended Cut, a story-driven psychological horror, where the protagonist Claire is on her way to visit her sick mother when she inadvertently finds herself in a dark world filled with mystery. And Bombing Busters, an action battle game in the spirit of Bomberman, where players help a scientist dispose of the random critters by blowing them up. Both Claire: Extended Cut and Bombing Busters are cross-play with the PS4.

Excluding Bombing Busters, all free games for March 2018 have Platinum trophies to unlock. Among them, Ratchet & Clank is by far the easiest, particularly for those with experience in the series, requiring about 20 hours of gameplay. Also, Claire: Extended Cut is not particularly difficult if following closely to a guide, and needs only 5-6 hours. Also, both Mighty No. 9 and Legend of Kay Anniversary is rather average in terms of difficulty and requires 30 hours. While Bloodborne is a fantastic title, expect some rather challenging trophies and about 60-70 hours of your time.

Bloodborne

Bloodborne is a third-person action RPG with horror elements, with a focus on exploration and weapon-based combat. Players control a customizable character and use such items as swords and firearms as they further explore the world by collecting keys to unlock new locations, while battling enemies and bosses. Players can also summon other players in the same world to aid in their battles, or be invaded by other players, through multiplayer.

Taking place in a run-down Gothic city named Yharnam, the mysterious player-character is searching for something called the Paleblood. He soon learns that many of the inhabitants of the city have been turned into creatures due to an endemic illness.

Bloodborne received highly positive reviews with an average score of 93%, praised for its level and character designs, atmosphere, fast-paced combat, and overall exciting gameplay.

Bloodborne is not only challenging, but quite time-consuming as well. At least one playthrough is needed, if you back up your file and reload in order to witness each of the three different endings. If this is not done, then three playthroughs are needed. There are several boss battles, and doing them alone will really test your skills.

Expect roughly 60-70 hours for the Platinum, depending on your skills.

Start by simply playing through the game. However, be wary of some missable trophies. The Hunter's Essence trophy unlocks after acquiring all the hunter weapons, which the Crow Hunter Badge, Wheel Hunter Badge, and Old Hunter Badge can be missed if their related mission is not done correctly.

Play the game up until the final boss. The point of no return is when the workshop in the Hunter's Dream is on fire. From here, you will want to make sure you've completed everything you still need to do. Be sure to check out the Bloodborne trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what is still required.

Before you head towards the final boss, we recommend saving your file either to the cloud or on a USB drive. Then, after entering the Hunter's Dream and meeting with Gerhman, accept his offer. Once the Yharnam Sunrise trophy unlocks, load up your previous save. Then refuse and kill Gerhman in order to get the Honoring Wishes trophy. Finally, load up your save one last time, where you will be using the three umbilical cords. After defeating the final boss, you should unlock the Childhood's Beginning trophy.

From here, you can load up the New Game+ to complete the Hunter's Essence trophy, as well as any others you still need.

Good luck!

Horizon Zero Dawn Platinum Trophy May Include Reward

Obtaining the Platinum Trophy in Horizon Zero Dawn may provide more than a sense of accomplishment or bragging rights to some players.

Sony Interactive Entertainment, the publishers behind Guerrilla Games‘ open-world action RPG Horizon Zero Dawn, is rewarding players who unlock the Platinum Trophy with an exclusive avatar for their PSN Profile. Players must also be subscribed to the PlayStation Newsletter where Sony congratulates the user for obtaining the Platinum and sends out the redeem code for the avatar.

This is in fact the second time Sony congratulated players with a gift for Horizon Zero Dawn, the first being an exclusive PlayStation 4 theme. Previous titles in which players were rewarded in the PlayStation Newsletter included Bloodborne and Uncharted 4.

The avatar reward is random, so not all players achieving the Platinum Trophy in Horizon Zero Dawn will receive a reedem code.
