BlazBlue: Continuum Shift

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is a 2D fighting game with anime-style graphics, and a sequel to the 2009 console title, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. New moves have been added or tweaked, and eight new characters.

The story takes place shortly after the events of Calamity Trigger. The people of the 13th Hierarchical City have become obsessed with Ragna the Bloodedge and the bombings they believe he's responsible for, spreading rumors and claiming sightings of him. Meanwhile, Ragna waits patiently for a great power in him to activate.

The game received fairly positive reviews, with an average score of 78%, stating that while it possessed a fair balance in the versus mode, an easily accessible online mode, and colorful graphics that are appealing to the eye, Continuum Shift has a steep learning curve for anyone new to the series.

Even if you are familiar with the previous BlazBlue game, both the challenge and time consumption for the platinum in this sequel has gone way up! Your online goal has been increased from level 30 to 50, you must play several different paths in the story mode to unlock the gallery pictures, and battle in a challenging challenge mode.

Not an easy Platinum, by far, for anyone new to the BlazBlue games, or fighting games in general.

We recommend beginning with the tutorial. Even if you've played Calamity Trigger, there have been new moves added, and others have been tweaked, which will take some getting used to. Plus, this will net you the Ragna Cum Laude trophy. Then, you can practice in the Training mode. Play for an hour, and you'll get the I Can Do This All Night trophy.

Afterwards, the rest is up to you. Story Mode will take you a long time, as - unlike the previous title - you can't simply play through once with each character to unlock the gallery picture. This time, there are multiple paths to be taken. After, you will also need to play each of the characters in the Arcade Mode. By now, after hours of hard work, you should have 7 more trophies added to your collection.

In Versus mode, there are certain trophies which can be earned much easier than in the other modes, such as Ice-Ten or 1.21 Gigawatts. Check out the guides in our Links page for further details.

Then in Legion mode, you'll have to fight multiple enemies to claim a certain area. The good news is, you can save before each battle. The bad news, is the trophies for each corresponding level aren't stackable, so earning Genghis Kahn by playing on Difficulty will NOT earn you Napoleon Bonaparte and Alexander the Great - you'll need to play this mode three times.

There are two trophies related to Score Attack, and like in the previous game, you can save your progress by hitting the START button on a second controller. Then finally, there's the most difficult trophy in the game: Superior State Of Mind, for clearing the Challenge mode, which can be extremely difficult, even for veterans of the BlazBlue series.

By now, you should have acquired all the offline trophies. There are 9 online trophies to be earned. The good news is, you only need to play 100 ranked matches rather than 200. The bad news is, you must now reach level 50 rather than 30, which means earning this trophy will be far more time consuming than in the previous BlazBlue title. BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is a 2D fighting game with anime-style graphics, first released in the arcades, then ported onto the PlayStation 3 and other home consoles a year later. Taking place in the future, people have been divided between those who can wield magic and those who can't. After a civil war among these two groups, a rebel named Ragna the Bloodedge destroyed a number of branches of Liberty - the governing force who rules with their magic. As a result, a hansom bounty has been placed on Ragna's head. Hency, we've got characters fighting him for the bounty, as well as each other to stop the competition.

The console version generally received positive views, with an average score of 83%, praised for its depth of gameplay, interesting plot, and great online feature. BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger was nominated at the 2009 Spike TV Game Awards for fighting titles, though lost to StreetFighter IV.

Being a fighting game, this title's difficulty requires a fair amount of skill, as well as some of your time. The online trophies are not as difficult as those in the Streetfighter games, but you are required to get 3 ranked wins in a row. However, even without the online trophies, the offline will still give you a run for your money, especially if you're new to the whole fighting-game genre.

You may want to begin by heading into the Training to start practicing with a few of the characters, in order to get a feel for the game. There are several trophies you can earn during your training sessions as well, such as Devil's Advocate and Activate Termination Protocol. Check out the BlazBlue Calamity Trigger trophy guide links under our Links tab for further details.

Once you feel confident enough with your characters, you can head on into Story Mode. Set the game on Easy, and work through the 10 available character stories. This will unlock Nu and Hakumen's story, which you'll also need to complete. Next, you'll need to clear Arcade mode on Hell difficulty, and unlock everyone's Astral finish.

The last portion of the offline trophies will be clearing those on Score Attack, which is by far the most difficult part of the game. Here, you can use whichever character you're best with. Note: if you have a second controller, you can use it to press Start and save yourself if you're about to lose.

Last are the online trophies. The most difficult will probably be You Brute! which requires three consecutive wins in Ranked Matches. Other trophies are more time consuming, such as fighting 200 battles (win or lose) and ruler of Kagutsuchi in which you must play a match online at least once against every character (win or lose). These, of course, can be boosted. Check out the link to a boosting forum we've posted under the Links tab.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend *** 51 Arc System Works Japan 38 10 2 6 0

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend is an updated version of BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, and ported from the arcade, titled Version 2.0. The game is a 2-D fighting title, and includes two new characters not features in the original Chrono Phantasma: Lambda-11 and Celicia A. Mercury. Chrono Phantasma Extend also includes extra story modes, a new story based on the BlazBlue: Remix Heart manga, and several new scenarios for certain characters.

The original Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma received positive reviews, with an average score of 82%, praised for its fighting mechanics and engaging story.

If you've played any of the BlazBlue titles, then you should have a fairly good idea of its level of difficulty. While arguably easier than Continuum Shift, and more difficult than the original Chrono Phantasma, the majority of the trophies in Chrono Phantasma Extend are relatively simple and will come to you naturally over time. However, performing all the trials for a character can be extremely challenging.

Overall, expect well over 50 hours for the platinum, though it heavily depends on your fighting skills.

NOTE: The trophies on the PS4 version share the same list as those on the PS3.

Like most fighting games, there's no real order to completing the trophies. However, if you're in need of some direction, and particularly if you're new to the BlazBlue series, we recommend beginning with the Tutorial Mode. Not only will you learn the basics, but you'll unlock the Lesson Is More trophy.

After that, if you'd like more practice with the characters and fighting skills, then head into the Training Mode. Here, you'll not only get practice with some combos, but earn the Impersonal Trainer trophy, as well.

From here, it's pretty much up to you what to work on. There's Story Mode with four trophies for completing the main story, the extended story, the remix heart story, and the additional gag reels. There's clearing the Score Attack mode for the Wunderbar! trophy. And the Abyss Mode to clear, in order to unlock the Six Education trophy.

Perhaps the most difficult and time consuming of the trophies will be Bread And Butter and Frame Advantage, which ultimately requires you to complete all of the challenges in Challenge Mode. We recommend saving this one for later, until your skills are ready.

Also, keep in mind there are 6 online trophies to unlock as well. The difficulty of these completely depends on your skills, and so we recommend saving these for later as well. Unless, of course, you find someone to boost with.

Finally, there are still a number of miscellaneous trophies to unlock. Check out the trophy guides in our Links page to see what you need and how to achieve it.
