Steins;Gate

Steins;Gate is a sci-fi visual novel and the second game in the Science-Adventure series, following Chaos;Head. The game later spawned several sequels, as well as a manga and anime series. Players make their choices by either selecting to answer or ignore phone calls and text messages, as well as selecting the reply. The outcome of these choices change the direction of the story.

Taking place in the summer of 2010 in Akihabara, Tokyo, Rintaro Okabe, who also goes by the pseudonym Kyouma Hououin, is a self-declared mad scientist who, among his friends, has accidentally created a time machine out of a microwave oven. By sending text messages into the past, he is able to alter the present and future. Yet the Butterfly Effect from these changes may create a horrible outcome for not only Okabe and his friends, but the fate of the world.

Steins;Gate received outstanding reviews with an average score of 88%, praised for its engaging story, colorful characters, voice acting, and attention to detail within the scenario.

Like just about any visual novel, the Platinum doesn’t require any skill – only time, and some strategic saves. Unlike other visual novels however, the different choices not clear-cut selections. Rather, they involve sending and receiving texts and phone calls at certain moments in the game. This means, if you are text-skipping, there’s a good chance you might skip through where you need to make a decision.

Expect anywhere between 5 to 45 hours for the Platinum, depending on how much text skipping you do.

NOTE: The trophies on the PS3 have a separate list from those on the PS Vita.

If you wish to get the Platinum in the least amount of time, we recommend following one of the walkthroughs under our Links tab, that will state not only when and which texts and phone calls to make, but also where to place some strategic save points you can fall back on.

There are trophies for reaching each of the multiple endings throughout the story. In addition, there are a few miscellaneous trophies for collecting all the CG images, receiving certain ring and wallpapers for your phone, and all 13 RaiNet episode summaries. You can either check out the Steins;Gate trophy guide links under our Links tab for specific details on these, or simply follow one of the walkthroughs, which will include methods for collecting these as well.

Be wary of text-skipping, particularly involving the miscellaneous trophies. Occasionally there may be a moment when you need to receive a reply to an email that’s linked to acquiring a phone ringtone or RaiNet episode summary. However, if you text skip through that moment, you could lose your chance and miss the reply.

If you’re simply reading the story like the game intended without text-skipping, then of course you have nothing to worry about.

Finally it should be noted that the Prologue does not contain any choices. So if you’re still keen on text-skipping, feel free to skip through the entire Prologue. Decisions will need to be made in Chapter 1.

Steins;Gate 0

Steins;Gate 0 is a visual novel, part of the Science Adventure series, and a sequel to the 2009 title Steins;Gate. Players read through text that is accompanied with graphics, spoken dialogue, and music, while making choices that affect the outcome of the story.

Set in Akihabara, Tokyo, and in an alternative future following the events of the original Steins;Gate, university student Rintaro Okabe becomes a tester for Amadeus, an artificial intelligence made up of digitized memories. Meanwhile, the time traveler Suzuha Amane and neuroscientist Maho Hiyajo seek a way to prevent a time-travel arms race that could lead to WWIII.

Steins;Gate 0 received positive reviews with an average score of 83%, praised for its story, atmosphere, and colorful characters, though criticized by some for difficulty in experiencing different endings and lack in understanding certain aspects without having played the previous Steins;Gate.

Since Steins;Gate 0 is a visual novel, there is nothing difficult in obtaining the Platinum. The game is simply reading through text and making choices. With a few strategic saves made along the way, the Platinum can be earned in one or two playthroughs, with a lot of backtracking.

Expect only 2 hours for the Platinum if following a guide and text-skipping, or up to 40 hours if reading everything and making multiple playthroughs.

NOTE: The trophies on the PS4 share the same list with those on the PS3 and PS Vita for the North American and European versions. However, the Japanese, Korean, and Hong Kong versions have separate trophy lists for each system.

There are several ways you can go about getting the Platinum, depending on how much you wish to enjoy Steins;Gate 0, versus being in a rush for collecting all the trophies.

If you simply wish to enjoy the game first, then by all means go ahead. Afterwards, you can start again and work towards viewing the alternate endings by making other choices.

If you wish to enjoy the game, but not have to backtrack so much, then we recommend making at least four saves at the following points: 1. Chapter - Closed Epigraph (12/5) when choosing to turn on or off the phone 2. Chapter - The Orbital Eclipse (1/2) before choosing to ignore or cancel the call 3. Chapter - Anitomic Dual (1/15) when choosing to answer or ignore the call 4. Chapter - Pandora's Box (1/23) before choosing to answer or ignore the call

Having saves at these four points will make backtracking and selecting alternate endings quicker. The third option is to go through with one playthrough, and even text-skip, to get that Platinum as quickly as possible. If you decide to do this, then we highly recommend following the Quick Platinum Walkthrough by neosnake101 under our Links tab.

Once that's finished, there may be just a few trophies to mop-up. Here is where you'll want to check out the Steins;Gate 0 trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what you still need and their requirements.

Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness

Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness is a visual novel based on the Psycho-Pass anime. Players select either Inspector Nadeshiko or Enforcer Takuma and make choices throughout the story, which can impact the ending. The game also includes tile-matching mini game.

The story is set in a dystopian future of Tokyo where people can be preemtively imprisoned for their tendency to commit crimes using a personality scanner called a Psycho-Pass. A rogue AI named Alpha is attempting to provide happiness through chemical control in order to reduce the human population. Yet Inspector Nadeshiko Kugatachi and Enforcer Takuma Tsurugi are on the case.

Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness received received widely mixed reviews with an average score of 73%, praised by some for remaining faithful to the source material, engaging story, and overall entertaining, which criticized by others for possessing too much text and only targeting fans of the anime.

Since the main basis of the game is a visual novel, the majority of the trophies are easy to unlock provided you're following a guide. There is a portion of the game which requires completing a set of block puzzles, though this is more grinding than difficult.

The Platinum can be earned in around 16 hours if following a guide.

NOTE: The trophies on the NA and UK PS4 version share the same trophy list with those on the PS Vita. However, the Japanese region have separate lists on each console.

You can start by going through the Prologue, then selecting Inspector Nadeshiko Kugatachi for your first playthrough. If you're in a rush for that Platinum, you'll want to follow one of the guides under our Links tab to see not only which choices to make, but when and where to make saves that you can revert to when aiming for all the endings. You should unlock a total of 16 trophies during this step.

Next, start a new game and after completing the Prologue, select Enforcer Takuma Tsurugi. Again, follow one of the guides to know which choices to select and when to make saves. By the end of this step, you should have another 15 trophies unlocked.

Finally, it's time to do some grinding. Head into the tile-matching mini-game, and work on building as many high value tiles as you can. You will need 100,000 points to unlock the Achieved 100,000 Points trophy. However, we recommend reaching up to 605,000 points in order to unlock the remaining trophies.

Once you have your 605,000 points, back up your save before making your purchases. You will need to unlock all the voice files for each character for the VOICE Complete trophy, and the remaining pictures for the PICTURE Complete trophy. By backing up your save, you can make the necessary purchases and unlock one trophy, than reload and purchase the remaining for the second trophy.

Lastly, if you've been following the guides and viewed the Bad Ends, you will still just need to access the Scene menu from the Content Viewer. This will unlock the SCENE Complete trophy, and if you've been following this roadmap, the Platinum trophy as well.
