Terraria
Terraria is a 2D adventure game with crafting elements, similar to a side-scrolling version of Minecraft. Players explore a procedurally generated open-world, mining for materials, building homes and other items, while battling enemies and bosses. Players begin with only an axe, sword, and pickaxe, as well as a limited amount of health and mana points which can be upgraded by discovered items. Completing goals will attract NPCs who will occupy buildings and rooms created by the layer, such as merchants and wizards. The game also allows for online multiplayer.
Terraria received positive reviews with an average score of 83%, praised for its crafting elements, emphasis on exploration and combat, and overall fun.
If you're playing this game solo, then the Platinum can be both challenging and extremely time consuming, hence the 3-star rating. However, if you have friends to help you out, then the difficulty level can drop to a low 2-star. Enemies and bosses' difficulty level do not change with multiple players, making them easier to defeat with friends. Also, having a friend to trade with can make collecting certain items much quicker. Overall, both the difficulty and amount of time required for the Platinum entirely depends on the amount of help you have.
Expect anywhere between 50-300 hours for the Platinum, depending on whether you have boosting friends or play entirely solo.
NOTE: The trophies on the PS4 share the same list with those on the PS3 and PS Vita.
Start by playing the tutorial. Not only will this teach you the mechanics of the game, but you'll unlock both the Terraria Student and Terraria Expert trophies.
From this point on, similar to Minecraft, there isn't any particular order in which to unlock the other trophies. For obvious reasons, you may wish to focus first on those miscellaneous ones which don't require Hard mode. Be sure to check out the Terraria trophy guide links under our Links tab for more specific details on what you need.
The game doesn't keep a record of your progress, so we highly recommend writing down or keeping a checklist for those time consuming trophies, to make things easier for yourself. This includes taking note of the 13 boses you've defeated for the Exterminator trophy, the 25 types of slimes you've killed for the Slimer trophy, the 24 pets you've found for the Pet Hoarder trophy, the 50 types of armor you've obtained for A Knight In Shining Armors trophy, and even the 39 crafting stations you've used for the Crafty trophy. Most of these can be done in Pre-Hard mode, while some will later require you to enter Hard mode to complete.
Eventually, you'll need to head into Hard mode in order to complete certain trophies, suc as defeating the remaining 6 bosses, 8 remaining slime, finding the remaining 9 pets, 18 sets of armor, and the remaining crafting stations.
We highly recommend playing this game with friends, which will not only make things easier, but quicker as well. If you don't know anyone who has the game, check out the boosting forums under our Links tab. Take note that they will need to be in your PSN Friends List in order to join.
