Sony just announced they are holding a free PlayStation 4 multiplayer week, which will allow anyone to access online multiplayer modes on any PS4 game, even without a PlayStation Plus membership.
“Hop on to PSN during the free week with your favorite multiplayer game,” said James Hallahan, from the PlayStation Plus North American team. “No membership commitment is required during this period.”
The free multiplayer week will begin in North America from Friday, February 17 at 12:01am PT until Thursday, February 23 at 11:59pm PT. And in Europe, from Wednesday, February 22 at 10am until Sunday, February 26 at 11:59pm.
Normally, multiplayer on the PlayStation 4 is only available to PlayStation Plus members, which also includes access to the Instant Game Collection as well as discounted prices. As of April 2016, there were close to 21 million PlayStation Plus subscribers. Subscriptions cost $9.99 USD / £5.99 for one month, $24.99 USD / £14.99 for three months, and $59.99 USD / £39.99 for 12 months. A 14-day trial in North America and Europe is also available.
Trophy hunters without a PlayStation Plus membership may wish to take advantage of this free multiplayer week, as a chance to unlock any missing online trophies.
